About the project

The construction project of the Saint-Hyacinthe Convention Center are benefiting from the expertise of Jenaco. The Saint-Hubert firm, specializing in building mechanics, secured the contract for the plumbing, gas, and mixed water installations for this major commercial complex in the Maskoutaine region, valued at $65M.

“The 100,000 sq. ft. project includes 63,000 sq. ft. of exhibition space, some 30 meeting rooms and a 25,000 sq. ft. main hall that can accommodate up to 2,500 guests for banquets.

The convention center is twinned with a hotel. The hotel comprises 205 rooms, including 27 suites. Although in terms of operations and the Building Code, the convention center and hotel are considered a single building, construction of the privately-owned hotel is the responsibility of a general contractor separate from that of the convention center.

We're delighted to have had the opportunity to demonstrate our plumbing, gas and mixed water skills in this type of commercial project.

Interesting fact, this imposing commercial complex is powered by renewable natural gas produced by the City of Saint-Hyacinthe. Another distinctive feature is that it is linked to the Galeries de Saint-Hyacinthe shopping center by an aerial walkway from a green roof.

“We're delighted to have had the opportunity to demonstrate our plumbing, gas and mixed water skills in this type of commercial project,” says Jenaco founder Jean Turgeon. The company has already been involved in the construction of institutional buildings and even hotel complexes, such as the project to transform the Mount Stephen private club into a hotel.

Project management and construction management firm Decarel oversaw the project. It has previously worked with Jenaco. A team of six to eight men was assigned to this 12-month project, which had begun in November 2016 and had been secured through a call for tenders.
