The estimation coordinator is responsible for providing technical and administrative support to the company's various estimators.

The ideal candidate will show initiative, has a good sense of responsibility, and knows how to manage time properly. He/she is thorough, attentive to detail, and has a positive and respectful attitude. This person views the job as a long-term investment and wants to reach his/her full potential within the company.

Your role

Under the supervision of the Estimation Manager, the incumbent's mandate consists of successfully completing the following three major steps:

Main responsability

  • Requesting and tracking equipment prices from suppliers;
  • Analyzing supplier bids to ensure technical compliance with plans and specifications;
  • Drafting and preparing question forms and bid closing letters in collaboration with the estimator;
  • Preparing public tender documents on various platforms such as BSDQ's TES and SEAO;
  • Assist estimators with calculations and measurements based on plans;
  • Assist the estimator in tracking changes to plans for ongoing projects;
  • Draft and prepare question forms and bid closing letters in collaboration with the estimator;
  • Study, analyze, and master various technical project documents, such as plans and specifications;Set up automatic calculation files, tables, and new software to increase the efficiency of estimators;
  • Maintain records of projects under bid, awarded, and not awarded;
  • Open new bid files;
  • Maintain bid plans and addenda;
  • Participate in the selection of materials to be installed based on plan and specification requirements, efficiency, and site constraints;
  • Take measurements, record actual installation times, and conduct site visits to obtain accurate data for estimates;
  • Participate in bidder visits;
  • Once the contract is awarded, prepare for and attend project kickoff meetings.

Contribution to the team

  • Perform relevant tasks to assist team members in various circumstances, including emergencies, overflow situations, or to respond to specific needs.

Continuous improvement of quality and productivity

  • Stay abreast of trends, updates of construction products, and new developments in the field to always be at the cutting edge
  • Stay alert and be attentive to remarks, suggestions, or complaints from employees, clients, or anyone closely or remotely connected with the company in order to make concrete contributions to the continuous improvement of quality and productivity

Requirements

  • Knowledge and experience in plumbing, heating, piping, and/or other building mechanics disciplines;
  • Knowledge of plumbing codes is an asset;
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical, structural, and architectural plans;
  • Knowledge of take-off estimation software is an asset;
  • Knowledge of Maestro Technologies is an asset;
  • Open to employer training on the estimation aspect of building mechanics.Knowledge and experience in plumbing, heating, piping, and/or other facets of building mechanics
