IKEA Beauharnois

About the project

Jenaco was involved in the construction of retail giant IKEA's new distribution center in Beauharnois. This was Jenaco's first collaboration with Broccolini, one of Canada's leading construction, development and real estate services companies. Broccolini acted as prime contractor on this large-scale project, covering 1.2 million square feet.

“We're particularly proud to have worked with Broccolini on a project of this nature, which challenges both logistics and coordination,” says Jean Turgeon, president and founder of Hubertaine.

The plumbing, heating and natural gas mandate for this three-compartment warehouse has some interesting particularities. One of the buildings, including the automated storage bay, will be 118 feet high. "In itself, the whole mandate entrusted to us is a regular job for us. It's the existence of this high bay that adds a touch of challenge, which is not something we dislike,” adds Mr. Turgeon.

In addition to the need for careful planning, the roof drainage of this large building is a particular challenge. A team of ten employees was assigned to the project, which was completed in autumn 2019. Ikea's new distribution and warehousing center houses conventional warehouse racking in Buildings 1 and 3, as well as a one-storey office space with amenity areas for employees.
